Swift 3D v5 Integration with Adobe® Photoshop® CS Extended
Overview
Swift 3D Version 5 allows users to export 3D models or scenes to the 3DS file format for use in the Adobe® Photoshop® CS Extended compositing and texture editing environment (or within other 3D applications). It's easy to create 3D objects that can then be seamlessly integrated with your Photoshop CS Extended design projects.
Workflow - Swift 3D v5.0 to Photoshop CS Extended
This example shows how we created a 3D version of our ZAM 3D logo and integrated it into a promotional piece for the product. It assumes the rest of the brochure has already been created in Photoshop and only requires the final 3D element.
Create your 3D model or scene in Swift 3D. In this case, it's our Zam 3D logo. Any textures that are applied to your model become editable textures in Photoshop CS Extended. Scene Cameras and Lights will also be recognized in Photoshop's 3D environment.
When your scene or model is ready, export it to the 3DS format thought the Swift 3D File Menu Dropdown.
In Adobe Photoshop CS Extended, import your 3DS file and a new 3D Layer will be created. Double clicking this layer exposes a host of 3D tools that allow you to work with your 3D model in much the same way you do in Swift 3D. This allows you to properly position your 3D object and apply lighting and render styles as desired. Apply Photoshop filter effects to your 3D object and adjust image properties to create a perfect match with your composited scene. You can even open up the bitmap texture files and make changes on the fly. Resave the texture and the changes are automatically updated on your 3D object.
With a little final fine tuning, your 3D object is now an integral part of your design project, as well as the PSD source file and can easily be updated at any time and used across similar projects with different positioning, style, lighting, and even animation. With Swift 3D, adding 3D elements to your Photoshop projects couldn't be easier.
